What is the ESPfi?
European Schools Project ESP is a forum of ICT collaboration. There are hundreds of ESP projects in more than 25 countries. Participants are teachers and pupils from all school levels.

ESP exists since more than 14 years. In 1988 a pilot project was conducted in which the Augustinus College in Amsterdam participated, and a school in Telegraph Creek, British Columbia, Canada.

Main coordination takes place in Europe, but ESP includes partners also in the USA, in Japan and other countries.

ESPfi is the Finnish part of the European Schools Project (ESP). The national coordinator in Finland is Ilpo Halonen, nominated in the 12. conference of ESP in Copenhagen, March 1998. In Malmo conference 2002 Pentti Pirhonen was nominated as the second coordinator. The website of the ESPfi stays in the URL http://esp.eduprojects.net/.
We are an active partner in Comenius 3 networks COMPACT and ECOLE.

The Finnish Minister of Traffic, the former minister of education, Mr Olli-Pekka Heinonen stated in his letter to ESPfi 8th May 1998, as follows:
"It was a pleasure to see that determinate work is done to promote ICT in schools, as well as in the projects Web for Schools and European Schools Project. We have surfed to the pages of the ESP and have noticed that the pages are great both educationally and visually. [...] A lot of success to you in the tasks of the Finnish coordinator and as the member of the ESP board!"

Another member of the Cabinet, the minister of Foreign Affairs, *Mr Erkki Tuomioja* , stated in his letter to us 22nd February 2000:
"It is delighting that you feel responsible for the abilities of the youth in the process of being internationalized. Developing these skills is one of the most important factors of success in our society."

We would like to keep up with the current development of web projects. Stay surfing on our pages. Give us your feedback.
